Cleaning your Facility after Construction

During the process of construction, whether it is a new office, or a remodel, almost every square inch of the facility gets covered in a film of dust. The following is the most effective way
to remove the dust from the facility in the most efficient amount of time. Step 1 is to dust off all the walls and the ceilings using the type of applicator window cleaners used to apply water to the window. Step 2 is to use a Hepa vacuum with a soft bristle brush to vacuum all the surfaces inside the facility in order to remove as much of the dust as possible. Using a standard Shop Vac will not work as effectively because they do not trap as much of the dust due to the type of filers they use and a large amount of the dust picked up from the vacuum ends up blowing out the exhaust port of the vacuum into the room again. After you have vacuumed everything, and used a small paintbrush to dust the tight areas, such as the hinges and tracks of the drawers, use a soft clean Micro Fiber cloth moist with water to wipe down all the surfaces in the facility to remove any dust that may have been missed by the Hepa Vacuum. Make sure you do not wipe any flat wall painted surfaces or cloths such as fabric or silk. We have found that using an orange citrus based cleaner instead of Goof Off works best for us to remove the adhesive left behind from masking tape. Sometimes the Goof Off will melt the plastic toilet seat lids. Using a floor machine with a neutral PH soap, you then need to scrub the stone floors to remove the left over grout, or residue that may be on them. Finally give one last vacuum to any hardwood floors; and then, using a clean dust mop, moist with a little water, or Bona Hard Wood floor cleaner, applied with a fine mist from a squirt bottle, go over the floors. https://us.bona.com/home.html
You will need to go back through the facility again after a few days to give a quick wipe with a moist towel to all the flat surfaces to remove the dust that will continue to settle. It is very important to turn on the HVAC system to blow out all the dust that may have settled in the air duct system. If you have floor vents in the facility you should clean the air ducts professionally.
