Legislation to Boost Minimum Wage Approved in New York, CaliforniaCalifornia Governor Jerry Brown and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo have approved legislation increasing the minimum wage in their respective states to US$15 per hour.
Brown signed into a law a bill he announced last week, which will raise the minimum wage to $15 in California by 2022. The bill, which will affect more than 2 million California workers, also calls for wages to increase with inflation on an annual basis, USA Today reports.
New York’s legislation calls for wages in New York, NY, to increase to $15 by 2018, and on Long Island and in Westchester County by 2021. The rest of the state would see the minimum wage increase to $12.50 by 2020, with the option for further increases based on inflation and other economic indicators
These rate increases will affect the cleaning industry rates. The best way to keep your rates as low as possible is to sign a long term contract with clear payment terms and lock in the annual rate. This will save you alot of hassle as the industry along with other industries adjust to the newer pay scales.
